Mercury is the Roman god of merchants and profits; descended from the Greek god Hermes the messenger of Zeus. Hermes was the god of travellers and athletes. Mercury can be seen low on the horizon at sunrise and sunset. It orbits the Sun every 88 days and changes houses every 7.3 days.
Mercury is regarded as the most significant mental influence of the planets. It governs the intellect, perception, and is associated with the brain and the nervous system. Mercury will always be in the same sign as the Sun or in the sign next to the Sun. It is said that the conjunction of Mercury with the Sun can limit our mental facilities in that we become fixed in our way of thought and can be stubborn and resistant to change.
