Venus, sometimes called the Evening Star, is the brightest object in the sky. In Roman times, Venus was the goddess of Spring; in Greek times, she was known as Aphrodite, the goddess of love and lust. The third planet orbits the sun every 224.6 days and spends 18-19 days in each sign.

Venus is the feminine influence and is associated with the power to love and feelings. It also effects the throat, lower back, and the thyroid. When in the signs of Taurus and Libra, Venus is exalted and the positive traits of friendliness, harmonious relationships, and tactfulness are highlighted. Under affliction, it tends to be over-emotional, weak-willed and lazy. Many great socialites have Venus in the Eleventh House.
