"Whatever is born or done at this moment, has the qualities of this moment of time."
- Carl Jung, philosopher and psychoanalyst

The birth chart is the most ancient and basic tool used in the practice of astrology. It is a snapshot of the positions occupied by the Sun, Moon, and Planets, relative to the Earth, at the time of your birth. From the birth chart, predictions regarding your basic personality and dispositions can be made.

Astrology spans many cultures and is a broad and complex thing. Astrographix creates a standard Astrolabe (or birth wheel) as a high-resolution color image. The use of images rather than symbols makes the wheel easier to understand and is much more pleasing to the eye. In addition to the artful diagram, the Astrographix Birth Chart provides a limited personality interpretation. This interpretation consists of a description of the characteristics of the Chinese Animal Sign associated with the year of birth and a description of the Occidental Sign associated with the month of birth.

A more complete personal interpretation comes analyzing the birth chart diagram which maps the positions and relationships of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the moment of birth. Astrographix provides you with "A Guide to Understanding your Birth Chart", a PDF document that allows you to understand the basics of how a birth chart is interpreted.

There are many ways to draw a birth chart depending on the House system used and the type of astrology practiced. Astrographix calculates the Ascendant and Midheaven points of the chart using the Placidus method. Using the Ascendant as the cusp of the First House, the chart is divided into twelve equally spaced segments (the Tropical House system). We would have preferred to use Placidus houses but found that graphically this caused problems at high and low latitudes; the charts appeared "squeezed". The use of Tropical houses is a small compromise and is more than compensated for by the presentation quality of the charts. Prototype versions of the birth charts also included the Moon's nodes and minor aspects, but have since been eliminated because they tended to "clutter" the charts.

Whatever type of Astrology, it is based on the time and place of your birth. Astrographix has created a beautiful and accurate picture of the moment of birth that can be used for detailed analysis by those skilled in the many types of astrology.
